DELTA robot
autonox Robotics, a specialist in parallel kinematic robot arms, is the only manufacturer to offer a 4-axis DELTA robot with an integrated tool changer and T-shaft.
This is designed to increase performance and productivity while also enabling a compact design.
The parallel kinematic robot mechanism has four degrees of freedom (three translational and one rotational), an integrated tool changer (ATS) and an additional tool shaft (T-shaft) for gripper manipulation.
Fast tool and gripper changing
Various media transfers are possible via the tool changing system. This allows for a quick gripper change. Thanks to the integration into the tool carrier, the center of gravity, including the tool changer, is almost at the tool center point (TCP), which is said to have a positive effect on the performance of the mechanics and represents a compact design. The media supply is integrated into the tool changer, with the supply lines being permanently installed on both the robot arm and the gripper tool. The tool changing system forms the interface. When the gripper is docked and undocked, the media supply is automatically established. Additional plug connections are not required.
DELTA robot with additional tool shaft
The additional tool shaft enables servo-controlled gripper manipulation and simplifies the design of the gripper tool. This is implemented using a shaft-in-shaft principle, in other words: the T-shaft is guided directly through the 4th axis. The drive for the tool shaft is fixed to the top plate of the robot mechanism. This is how the principle of fixed-position motors is further pursued. The servo-controlled gripper movement offers advantages directly on the gripper compared to pneumatic or electric actuators, the company describes: the weight of the gripper tool is reduced, and in addition, different format positions can be approached, products can be gripped via force control, and fast controlled movements can be executed. Limit switches or similar are not required.
DELTA robots can be operated with all common controllers
The manufacturer only supplies the pure mechanics. This means that the 4-axis DELTA can be operated with all common controllers. The entire automation process can thus be realized on just one control platform. The parallel kinematics is also robustly built, maintenance-free, durable and offers stability, the company lists. The arm joints are rigid and cannot come loose during operation.
Robots for the packaging and food industry, among others
The robot is currently available in the 3, 6, 12 and 20 kg load classes in various working radii. If necessary, the tool changing system or the tool shaft can be transferred to other load classes. Both systems (ATS and T-shaft) are also available independently of each other. The robots are used primarily in the packaging industry, in food production, in automotive engineering, in mechanical parts manufacturing and in battery production.
